With new bathroom trends and designs emerging each year, it can be hard to keep up and even harder to try and incorporate these styles into a new bathroom. A great place to start is to fully understand these trends and the opportunities they present before you begin designing your new space.

The bathroom has evolved from simply a practical space in the house, to a sanctuary where you can enjoy some time away from the busyness of everyday life. Bathrooms are increasingly being transformed into calm environments that promote tranquillity while remaining aesthetic.

Let’s look a little closer at three emerging bathroom trends in 2019:

Patterned Tiles

For years there wasn’t much to choose from when it came to tiles – most people were selecting simple white tiles for a bathroom. These days however, technology allows manufacturers and designers to develop an abundance of new tile designs.

Tiles are now being taken beyond the scope of normality to incorporate eye-catching designs including hexagons, diamonds, Moroccan fish scales and chevron patterns in a variety of colours and textures. These artistic tiles are also being used to create bold bathroom floors

Exposed Shower Plumbing

The trend of exposed shower plumbing in the bathroom is an unanticipated one, but the exceptionality of the final look can’t be denied. This trend features clearly displayed pipes and sees internal mechanisms of the shower unit put on show, contributing to a strong industrial look.

Exposed shower systems allow a little personality to be brought into the bathroom, which has proven to be a challenge in the past. Pipes can also be exposed throughout the entirety of the bathroom, placing substantial emphasis on the rugged look provided by exposed plumbing. This look can be amplified by extending exposed plumbing to isolated bathtubs as well as sinks.

Brass & Gold Fixtures

In 2019, brass and gold fixtures are returning to the bathroom. Fixtures are available in spun gold, matte and satin and add another dimension of elegance to any bathroom when contrasted with the right colours. The comeback of gold and brass accents is welcomed as these colours effectively hide water spots and fingerprints.

Seeking inspiration from the most recent bathroom trends is a great way to ensure your bathroom is on trend. However following your own style is also essential to ensure you are comfortable in your own space.
